Board approves hires, retention bonuses and four-year superintendent extension

The Mendota Township High School District 280 board approved a series of personnel actions on Nov. 17, including hires, retention bonuses and a multi-year contract extension for the superintendent.
The board voted to hire Savannah Kellen as a paraprofessional and approved hiring coaches for winter sports (Girls Bowling head coach Jason Artman; Boys Track paid assistant Steve Vilegas; Softball paid assistants Alisa Stewart and Jenna O'Donnel; volunteer Dr. D. Doyle). The board recorded that winter-sport participation rose to 151 students.
Separately, the board approved a one-time retention bonus for non-certified staff equal to 2.5% of annual salary to be distributed in December, and granted 3% one-time bonuses to two certified staff positions (Technology Director and Assistant Principal). The board also unanimously approved a four-year extension of Superintendent Aughenbaugh's contract from July 1, 2026, to June 30, 2030, with scheduled raises of 3.5%, 3.5%, 3.5% and 4.0%. Superintendent Aughenbaugh publicly thanked the board and "shared that it would be her intention to retire from Mendota High School on July 1, 2030."
