Staff reports four buses inoperable; committee recommends trading two and budgeting for replacements

Mr. Sims presented mileage and a condition report to the Transportation Department on Dec. 2, citing four inoperable buses: numbers 13, 17, 15 and 27. Mr. Sims said 17 requires a full set of injectors; 13 needs completion of post-DOC cleaning and a few days of work; 15 requires brake repairs; and 27 has accumulating engine codes and a temperamental power door.
Staff member Wes recommended trading in buses 27 and 17 and procuring gas-powered replacements. The committee recorded that 23 buses and four vans are currently operational, the fleet average model year is 2018.69, and it will recommend budgeting for the purchase of one bus and one van in FY26; Van #43 is scheduled for summer 2026 replacement consideration.
