District approves health-renewal options as Blue Cross renewal nears 20%

The Mendota Township High School District 280 board approved presenting two health-insurance plan options to eligible staff after a district review of renewal projections.
Dr. Aughenbaugh told the board, "The current negotiated renewal rate from Blue Cross Blue Shield was 20%." She said the district expects a further 0.5% rate relief that would bring a provisional renewal down to 19.5%; final premium figures will be released to staff when that discount is confirmed. The district authorized offering a $3,000-deductible plan with an increased health-reimbursement arrangement and a maintained $2,500-deductible legacy plan (with a higher employee contribution to retain the legacy option).
A Gallagher Benefits representative is scheduled to meet eligible staff Nov. 24 to review plan choices and wellness opportunities; transportation staff will receive a separate presentation. The Insurance Committee will reconvene in March to review enrollment choices and cost trends.
