Dr. Gordon informed the board that the district’s intercom and bell system is outdated and no longer supported, and that district phones are also aging though not quite as old as the intercom system. He reported the district has two similar quotes for a Phase I upgrade (intercom and bell master control) of about $50,000 that would reuse existing wiring and speakers so classroom 'call' buttons remain functional.
Dr. Gordon said his preference is to complete Phase I first and address phones in a later phase; he will research the system’s age and return with a formal recommendation and potentially a bid or contract recommendation at a future meeting. Board members asked questions about system age and cost; no formal action was taken at the Feb. 23 meeting.
