The Rankin Board on Jan. 26 authorized Superintendent Dr. Matt Gordon to solicit bids for the district's transportation provider beginning July 1, 2026. "Motion by Member Lowman and second by Member Helfers to approve the authorization of the Superintendent to let bid out for the District’s Transportation Provider beginning July 1, 2026, as presented," the minutes record; the motion passed 4–0.
Dr. Gordon separately told the board he will hold a Special Board Meeting to award the bid on March 2, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. He said he is researching options to purchase or lease supplemental buses but that any such decision would follow planning and collaboration with the new transportation provider. The board did not object to scheduling the special meeting or to the administration's plan to explore options before committing to vehicle purchases.
