River Trails School District 26 committee posts Policy Packet 120 for first reading

The River Trails School District 26 Policy Committee voted unanimously on Jan. 13 to post Policy Packet 120 for a first reading, with adoption scheduled at the Board of Education meeting on Feb. 10. Committee Chair Janine Freedlund presided; Freedlund "entertained a voice vote to post Press packet 120 for a first reading, and with adoption at the February 10th Board of Education meeting," and the three committee members responded AYE.

Packet 120 included more than two dozen policies spanning board member development (2:120), discrimination and harassment (2:270), fiscal and business management (4:10), accounting and audits (4:80), personnel matters (5:100–5:300), curriculum and instruction (6:60–6:315), student behavior and safety (7:10–7:310), and visitors and conduct on school property (8:30). The committee recorded that the majority of the policies required "no changes other than Press recommendations," while several specific policies were flagged for changes beyond Press recommendations (for example, 4:80 Accounting and Audits; 5:10 Equal Employment Opportunity and Minority Recruitment; 5:200 Terms and Conditions of Employment and Dismissal; 5:220 Substitute Teachers; 7:310 Restrictions on Publications — Elementary Schools). The packet will be available for first-reading review and consideration at the Feb. 10 Board meeting.

The action taken on Jan. 13 was procedural: posting the packet for review and scheduling final action. The committee did not adopt substantive policy text changes during the Jan. 13 meeting; comments and any proposed edits will surface in subsequent review cycles or at the February Board meeting.
