Auditor: FY24 audit nearly complete; district must document response to FY23 findings
Summary
Auditor Hayden Ross told the Finance Committee the FY24 audit is "basically done" but flagged two outstanding questions about how the district implemented prior FY23 audit findings, including updating building inventories and reinstating asset-depreciation tracking; the Board will be asked to set a micro‑purchasing threshold (current $5,000; federal $15,000).

Hayden Ross, identified in the meeting as the auditor for the district, told the Finance Committee that the FY24 audit is "basically done" but that two questions remain in the Findings section that require district documentation of corrective actions taken after the FY23 audit. Ross cited the need to create or update building-inventory spreadsheets that have not been updated for several years and to (re)implement tracking of asset depreciation.
Ross also raised the micro-purchasing threshold as a Board decision point: the district currently uses a $5,000 threshold, while the federal micro-purchase threshold is now $15,000. Ross said the Board will be asked whether it wants to retain $5,000, raise the threshold to $15,000, or choose an intermediate amount such as $10,000. The committee did not record a formal vote on that question during the meeting.
Next steps recorded in the minutes: the auditor will follow up on the two Findings items and the Board will be asked to select a micro-purchasing threshold. The audit remains open pending written responses documenting how the district implemented or remediated the FY23 findings.
