West Carroll board accepts high school principal's resignation; recognizes FFA students

The West Carroll Community Unit School District #314 Board of Education accepted the resignation and retirement of High School Principal Deb Gunnarsson, effective June 30, 2026. The consent agenda item containing the resignation passed unanimously as part of a broader consent vote approving minutes, financial reports and personnel actions.
Board members also used the regular-meeting recognitions to highlight student accomplishments in FFA and school activities. Principal Deb Gunnarsson recognized Maya De Witte for organizing and running the school library and starting a book club. Students named as FFA State Scholars included Thomas Krontz, Kasiah Kingery, Macie Carroll and Alli Duggan. Several students advanced to district contests in specific categories: Aidan Asay (Grain Production), Thomas Krontz (Food Service), Riley Runions (Food Entrepreneurship), Parker Whiting (Wildlife), and Macie Carroll (Ag Processing); Cole Herrell was recognized in Mechanics and noted as a Section 1 Proficiency awardee.
The board recorded the consent agenda approval and personnel actions by roll call (7-0). The minutes show Alyssa Miller was introduced and invited attendees to an upcoming FFA dinner. No public commenters were recorded in the minutes during the public-comment period.
