Summit SD 104 board votes to enter closed session on personnel, bargaining and property

The Board of Education, District No. 104 (Summit SD 104) met in a special session on Feb. 10, 2026, and voted unanimously to enter a closed session at 6:33 P.M. The meeting was convened at the Administrative Center and President William Green presided.

Member Dardovski moved "to enter closed session," citing Illinois statutes that authorize private deliberation on personnel, bargaining and property matters: "Consideration of information on the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the public body, or legal counsel for the public body. [5 ILCS 120/2 (c)(1)]. Collective negotiating matters between the public body and its employees or their representatives, or deliberations concerning salary schedules for one or more classes of employees. [5 ILCS 120/2(c)(2)]. The purchase or lease of real property for the use of the public body, including meetings held for the purpose of discussing whether a particular parcel should be acquired. [5 ILCS 120/2(c)(5)]." Member Rangel seconded the motion (Motion #21,696). A roll-call vote recorded Yeas from Members Hernandez, Cahue, Rangel, Dardovski, Johnstone and President Green; there were no Nays or abstentions. Member Davis was recorded as absent in the roll call.

The board reconvened and, on a subsequent motion by Member Dardovski seconded by President Green (Motion #21,697), exited closed session at 7:00 P.M. The meeting was then formally adjourned on a motion by Member Hernandez seconded by Member Rangel (Motion #21,698) at 7:00 P.M. The minutes were signed by William Green, President.
