Board recognized teachers and students; received routine reports and previewed district goals
Summary

The board opened the Sept. 23 meeting with multiple recognitions: nine teachers were honored for leadership roles with College Board AP exams, three students qualified as 2026 National Merit semifinalists, and one student finished third in the state at the Distinguished Young Women of Illinois Scholarship Program.
Board members then received routine reports: Student Association representatives reviewed recent and upcoming activities and reflected on Homecoming; the Assistant Superintendent presented August financial materials (noting the district is at roughly 16% of FY26); and the principal and assistant principals presented class-size, transfer-student, events and leadership benchmark data. President Deanna Zalas also told members that standard operating procedures and district goals are under revision and will be returned for board approval at a future meeting.
