Cicero SD 99 board approves five-year teachersmaster agreement through 2031

The Cicero School District 99 Board of Education voted March 11 to approve a five-year Master Agreement with the Cicero Council Union Teachers Unit, West Suburban Teachers Union, Local 571, American Federation of Teachers, covering July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2031.
Member Moreno moved to approve the agreement and Member Barrera seconded; Vice-President Dominick, Secretary Manouzi and Members Terracino, Moreno and Barrera voted yea. President Tomschin and Member Couch were absent.
Superintendent Dr. Calderin had earlier told the board that the teachers' unit had ratified the contract and that the agreement calls for 4% wage increases each year and new insurance plan offerings intended to provide long-term sustainability to district employees. The motion to approve the master agreement was presented as the formal board action on that ratified deal.
The board did not discuss line-by-line language during the open session; the motion carried on a roll call vote of members present. The approval places the contract on the district calendar ahead of the July 1, 2026 start date for the new term.
