Will County SD 92 recognizes students and honors longtime coach Kenric Bond
Summary
Walsh students Lilith Eakins, Myles Sanders, Ava Derrico and Leo Fonte were honored as Walsh Golden Riders for exemplary bus behavior. Coach Kenric Bond received the 2026 Illinois Track & Cross-Country Coaches’ Association Distinguished Middle School Coach Award for 23 seasons and numerous state-level achievements.
During recognitions on Jan. 20, Principal Megan Urban recognized Walsh students Lilith Eakins, Myles Sanders, Ava Derrico and Leo Fonte as Golden Riders for exemplary behavior on the bus, noting the recognition comes from reports by the bus driver. Principal Sue Forcash recognized Kenric Bond, the Oak Prairie coach, who received the 2026 Illinois Track & Cross-Country Coaches' Association Distinguished Middle School Coach Award; the minutes note Bond has 23 seasons as a head coach, led six teams to state trophies and qualified 27 teams for the state meet.
Board members acknowledged the recognitions and thanked staff and students; no formal board action was required for these acknowledgements.
