Board names Wilmington High School library for Salaba family after $79,000 in donations

The Wilmington CUSD 209U Board approved a recommendation to formally name the Wilmington High School library "The Salaba Family Library" at its Feb. 9 meeting.
Principal Scott Maupin presented the request and noted the Salaba family has donated more than $79,000 over the past 20 years to the WHS library; board materials say those gifts resulted in the purchase of over 85% of the books in the high school library. The motion (moved Kempes; second Alberico) carried with members present voting in favor.
Finance staff also thanked the Salaba family in public remarks during the finance report. The district will update signage and materials to reflect the new name.
