Wilmington board approves 2026–27 school calendar with Aug. 19 start and May 27 tentative last day

The Wilmington Community Unit School District 209-U Board of Education approved the 2026'27 school calendar at its Feb. 9 meeting.
Under the calendar approved by the board, Aug. 19, 2026 is the first full day of pupil attendance and Nov. 5'6 are scheduled for parent-teacher conferences. Winter break is set for Dec. 21, 2026 through Jan. 1, 2027. The district listed May 27, 2027 as the tentative last day of student attendance, with an early dismissal scheduled for that day.
Board member Chris Cragg moved to approve the calendar; Lauren Kempes seconded and the motion carried. The board packet lists other scheduled staff-development early-release days and common district observances.
