The Wilmington Community Unit School District 209-U board on Oct. 20 authorized the district to negotiate and execute contracts for electricity supply, demand response and community solar with terms and renewals not to exceed 48 months beginning January 2026. The motion named Nania Energy Advisors as the district's adviser.
The authorization follows a presentation listed in the minutes by Seth Crackel of Nania Energy on electricity costs. The board motion to grant negotiation authority was made by Chris Alberico and seconded by Chris Alberico (record shows Alberico as mover and Alberico as second in the minutes for the recorded authorization); the motion carried with five ayes and two absences. The authorization enables the district to pursue supply agreements and participation in community solar programs beginning in 2026.
