Superintendent: trainer's room fire contained; construction underway

Superintendent Kevin Feeney told trustees the district experienced a fire in the athletic trainer's room on Aug. 1 and crews have begun remediation work. "ESIC has been fantastic to work with in regards to handling lost materials and items from that fire," Feeney said; he reported that construction on the trainer's room was scheduled to begin the week of the Aug. 11 meeting.
Board members also noted custodial work and summer projects limited the extent of water and smoke damage. The district listed multiple other summer improvements completed or underway, including the WHS gym renovation, the WMS library first phase and SIS locker‑room bathroom work. The board will monitor reconstruction progress and insurance/repair outcomes as the trainer's room work proceeds.
