Spring Avenue staff presented the Lion’s Den program to the board on Jan. 26, walking trustees through an exemplar den meeting and activities.
Principal Mrs. McCoy, Assistant Principal Mrs. Jacobs and teacher Mr. Kratt described how the program pairs grade levels for activities designed to build confidence and leadership. The presenters said the den meeting demonstrated “how partnering grade levels helps to build confidence, leadership, and adds enjoyment to the school day.”
Board members acknowledged the presentation and thanked staff for showcasing classroom-level strategies that support social-emotional learning and cross-grade mentoring.
Why it matters: the Lion’s Den is a classroom practice intended to strengthen student leadership and peer supports, and the board received it as an example of school-level programming.
