District touts expanded summer programming and reviews year‑end student performance

District staff presented a "D105 Summer Celebrations" update and year‑end student‑performance results during the July 28 meeting.
Joanna Marek and Joseph Pontrelli said summer school enrollment increased from 127 in 2024 to 155 in 2025 and emphasized added specialists, new site hosting at Spring Avenue, and supports such as library, PE and social work programming. "Summer School is an opportunity to jump start the school year for our students who need extra support to be successful," Marek said, adding that the program aims to build student confidence in 16 days.
Teaching and Learning leader Kathryn Heeke summarized FY25 accomplishments and described curricular priorities for 2025‑26: sustaining fidelity of math implementation (K–8), focusing on seven components of literacy under the Illinois Comprehensive Literacy Plan, refining social studies pacing and aligning resources to support vertical articulation and professional learning needs.
Administrators said curricular revisions and professional development this summer are designed to strengthen instruction and ensure consistent implementation across grade levels in the coming year.
