District reports high turnout at preschool screenings; special-education review to proceed

Student Services reported the largest single-day preschool screening turnout in recent years and said consultants will conduct a special-education review through the 2025–26 school year.
Jennifer Sabourin, Director of Student Services, told the board that the department conducted its first of three preschool screenings this year and saw the highest single-day turnout in recent years. She also reported that the Transdisciplinary Play-Based Assessment Team has begun work to identify needs of the district's youngest learners and that the school psychology team and Student Services Professional Learning Community have set goals for the year.
Sabourin said the department has begun a process of engaging consultants to perform a special-education review/analysis; that work will continue throughout the 2025–26 school year. The board received the update as information; no board action was required.
