Fire panel upgrades complete at two schools; district expects winter completion

Facilities staff reported progress on a multi-school fire panel and severe-weather notification upgrade. Correct Electric completed installation at Hodgkins and Ideal Elementary Schools, custodians received recorded training on the new system, and West40 with ARCON completed occupancy walkthroughs needed for state compliance.
Steven Smidl told the board that work is ongoing at Seventh Avenue and Spring/Gurrie and will continue after hours through the first half of the school year with an expected completion by winter break. "The training was recorded for a refresher and for new staff members," he said, noting the recorded material will aid future personnel onboarding.
District funding for the project combines remaining School Maintenance Grant allocations with local reserves from Fund 90 (Fire Health Safety), Fund 60 (Capital Projects) and Fund 20 (O&M); staff said using Funds 20 and 90 helps meet compliance with the miller ratio (fund balance guidance). The board received the status update and did not take additional action beyond the project funding plan described by staff.
