The La Grange SD 105 Board of Education unanimously adopted recommended updates to Press Policy 118 on July 28. District administration summarized attorney guidance that the court decision in State of Tennessee v. Cardona restored aspects of the 2020 Title IX regulatory framework.
Dr. Brian Ganan told the board that the packet includes an attorney memo outlining how the ruling affects grievance procedures and definitions used in local policy; the minutes state that a general description of adjustments includes clarifications about live hearings, cross‑examination requirements and the scope of covered conduct. The minutes add that the Biden‑era expansions from 2024 regarding sexual orientation and gender identity and certain procedural changes are no longer in effect under the cited ruling.
The board adopted the policy updates by roll call vote. Administration also noted that optional AI language will remain in the district's AI handbook rather than being added to policy 6:235 at this time to preserve implementation flexibility and limit formal policy requirements.
The district's attorney memo is included in the board packet; the board adopted the policy updates as presented.
