The Winfield School District 34 Board accepted resignations from Maggie Lawson, Kathy Keefe and Mary Carbonari and approved several personnel actions at its Dec. 18 meeting. The board approved role/status changes for Gianna Stornello (0.5 paraprofessional/0.5 long-term substitute interventions teacher at a prorated salary of $36,661.50), and employed Nuvia Hernandez as District Administrative Assistant for Student Services & State Reporting and District Registrar at a prorated salary of $57,000.
The board also approved employment actions including Mark Melsa as boys' volleyball coach for the 2026 season at a stipend of $2,340; Evangelia Vogiatzi as a long-term art substitute (0.5 FTE) at a daily rate of $159.93 for the remainder of 2025'26; and Karla Sanchez as a 10-month primary administrative assistant at $19 per hour. The board voted to match administrator vision insurance to the administrator contract for 2025'26. All personnel motions passed on roll-call votes with six yeas and one absence.
