The South Harrison Community School Corporation board adopted its 2026 budgets for the Education, Operations and Debt Service funds at a regular meeting Thursday, Oct. 2, 2025. The motion to approve the budgets, and related resolutions, passed 6–0 with Nick Evans recorded as absent.
The board also approved a 2026–2028 Capital Projects Plan and a 2026–2030 Bus Replacement Plan during the Unfinished Business portion of the meeting. Board materials and the motion noted that "no taxpayer petitions were filed" on the budget items, a procedural point that cleared the way for adoption under state rules. The motion to adopt the budget and related resolutions was made by Karen Lopp and seconded by Barbara Smith.
Board members approved a resolution to transfer amounts from the Education Fund to the Operations Fund as part of the fiscal package. The meeting record shows adoption of the package as a block; the vote tally for the approval was recorded as Yea: 6, Nay: 0, Absent: 1.
The budgets and capital plan set the district's spending priorities for the coming year and authorize the continuing construction and renovation work noted elsewhere on the agenda. The board did not record a tax-rate figure or petition details in the minutes; those specifics were "not specified" in the meeting record and would appear in the formal budget documents filed by the district.
