Board hears Safe Schools construction progress; Phase II concepts discussed

During the Aug. 14 meeting, Dr. Zaher provided an update on Safe Schools I Secure Futures construction across district sites. She reported that the elevator has been installed, sidewalks are being placed, flooring, painting and ceilings are near completion, furniture has been delivered, and technology connections are in progress. She told the board the DuPage ROE inspection is scheduled for Monday, August 18, which will allow students to occupy the building if the inspection is passed.
Dr. Zaher also described proposed Phase II scope items: for Salt Creek — classroom structural improvements, corridor improvements, library updates, gym updates and exterior brown fascia replacement; for Swartz — classroom and corridor improvements and playground surface upgrades; for Albright — kitchen and cafeteria improvements, leveling and regrading of the soccer field, and installation of a sunshade and sidewalk on the soccer field. She noted the board received a briefing on the Phase II budget status but the transcript does not include detailed line-item costs.
