The South Harrison Community School Board approved an amended agenda at the start of its July 28 special session and concluded business at 2:59 p.m. Karen Lopp moved to approve the amended agenda and Barbara Smith seconded; the motion passed 6–0 with one member absent. The session opened after an executive session that addressed collective bargaining, pending litigation, prospective employees and individual employee evaluations under Indiana Code provisions.
Throughout the day the board moved through a consent agenda of personnel actions, operational contracts and a slate of construction pay applications and change orders. Superintendent Dr. Mark Eastridge later noted that he and administrators would tour the campus to inspect construction progress. Upcoming district dates confirmed during the session included Teacher Day on Aug. 8, staff opening day on Aug. 11 and the first day of school on Aug. 12.
