Council to meet Aug. 12 after election-day conflict; referendum timing to be set later

The council discussed scheduling for August after the chair noted Aug. 11 is an election day and proposed moving the first August meeting to Aug. 12. Several members raised conflicts with that date (including a public works and safety meeting already scheduled on Aug. 12 and at least one member unavailable), but the chair indicated that, as of the meeting, Aug. 12 would be the council's first August meeting unless another arrangement was made.
"So right now, the 1st meeting in August as of now will be the 12th," the chair said, and added the council could call a special meeting for specific referendum action if needed. Members asked staff to work around schedules and to discuss the referendum date later in the evening; the chair noted Alderman Dilge will be unavailable after mid-August.
