Public works warns growth requires more staff and building upkeep if fire facilities transfer

He also said if the city takes possession of fire facilities the DPW will need more building-maintenance staff and likely a heavy-service bay for apparatus repairs.
Council members asked how net-new construction and the increased tax base factor into funding; mayor and staff explained that net-new construction contributes a small percentage of new levy capacity and will not eliminate the need for an operating-levy increase. DPW requested that committee work consider capital consequences of assuming more buildings under city control.
