Miss Johnson, the county auditor, reviewed office supply, postage and travel lines and said several office printers are obsolete and may be consolidated under a single contract after offices relocate. She recommended postponing major copier or printer purchases until space and workflow are finalized following the planned move into the newly acquired building.
Johnson also said the county would benefit from a dedicated secretary for elected officials — a staff member who could prepare agendas and resolutions and provide counter and lunch‑break coverage. Commissioners and staff discussed reclassifying or adding a part‑time position to fill that role; Johnson said she would examine job descriptions and the salary ordinance and return with options.
The board accepted the auditor’s recommendation to delay purchases but asked staff to prepare a staffing proposal and any needed payroll reclassifications tied to the move.
