Judge urges quick action on salary study and flags longevity rules

"That new salary study is coming out and I think gonna be to the council by mid August," Judge Owenshauser said, and she urged the council to "follow those recommendations" quickly. She also highlighted longevity policy language and urged clarification on whether continuous service is required to qualify for longevity pay, saying some rehires appear to be receiving longevity credit as if they had continuous service.
Council members acknowledged the study's expense but agreed a professional classification review should guide pay adjustments and minimize ad-hoc requests for individual raises that could lead to inconsistent treatment across departments.
