The Scott County transfer station requested $137,900 from its internal account to cover staff ($56,000), disposal fees ($78,900) and other modest operating needs.
The station manager told commissioners the operation generates roughly $12,000 a month and that installing a new compactor reduced hauling and disposal costs. He urged commissioners to keep separate line items for manager and staff wages; commissioners asked clarifying questions about hours, part-time roles and whether specific professional-service items are recurring.
Members noted disposal fees have fallen materially from prior years and that payroll is the largest monthly expense. Commissioners did not object to the request during the July 29 agenda review and asked staff for any clarifying breakdowns before appropriation decisions.
