Adams said the original construction contract was listed at $924,869 and the current construction cost is $885,599, roughly $39,000 below the contract amount; staff said savings were achieved by reducing the linear footage of a retaining wall and by avoiding work on an old bridge to limit potential damages. Adams told commissioners the contractor was Southern Ohio Trenching and Excavating and the project was about 99% complete with only a handrail on the punch list.
Commissioners commented on the improvement to pedestrian access and drainage, discussed the difficulty of utility relocation during the project, and thanked staff for the work.
