The Arcadia Unified School District Board of Education voted unanimously on June 10 to adopt Resolution 24-25-33, designating June 2025 as LGBTQ+ Pride Month in the district. Mrs. Yee read the resolution noting the district's commitment to a safe, welcoming environment and recognition of Pride Month's historical context.
"The district is fully committed to creating a positive climate, maintaining a safe and welcoming environment, and promoting a strong sense of belonging in our schools," Mrs. Yee said while reading the resolution. Mrs. Chavez moved to adopt the resolution; Mrs. Vargo seconded. President called the vote and the motion carried 5-0.
Board members said the resolution aligns with the district's stated goals for inclusion and student well-being. The resolution text cited the history of the Stonewall uprising and noted that LGBTQ+ youth continue to face challenges; it directs district leaders to continue work promoting respect across campuses. No amendments or public comments were raised during the item.
