Board approves instructional continuity plan required by state law

Director Anderson briefed the board on the district's instructional continuity plan (ICP), a document required by Senate Bill 153 to ensure learning and support services continue in the event of school closure. Anderson said the plan formalizes two‑way communications within five days, outlines how social‑emotional and mental health services would be maintained, and explains procedures for providing in‑person or remote instruction and materials during an emergency.
"It's kind of that binder we hope we never have to use, but it's there in case we do," one board member observed. After questions about the plan's title and placement in school safety documents, a motion to approve the ICP and its inclusion in each school's comprehensive safety plan was made, seconded and approved on a roll call vote of 5–0. Staff said the district will update the agenda language to consistently call the document the "Instructional Continuity Plan."
