The Arcadia Unified School District board approved two firms — RCM (represented by Jerry Roberts) and Nolan Construction (represented by Chris Nolan) — for the district's construction-management pool and confirmed RCM to manage the Arcadia High locker-room modernization project.
Staff described the pool as a way to draw on firm-specific expertise for future projects and to provide flexibility in staffing. "So, essentially, the 2 firms are RCM, with Jerry Roberts and Nolan Construction with, Chris Nolan," a presenter said, noting both firms have worked with the district and bring different strengths.
Board members asked how the pool will be used and whether firms will rotate assignments or be chosen for specific project types. Staff said assignments will depend on the project — for example, Nolan will assist with solar projects while RCM will help with the locker-room work — and that keeping multiple firms helps preserve competitive pricing.
