Julie Chow and Myra Segrist gave similar testimony, saying Meza had mentored many new teachers, helped students through COVID, and merited the community's continued support.
Board members reminded speakers that, under the Brown Act and board practice, members do not discuss or take action on personnel matters during the public‑comment portion of a meeting. No formal personnel action was taken on the matter during the May 13 meeting. The board did not respond to individual accusations during public comment; staff processes for personnel complaints remain available, the president said.
Speakers requested follow‑up outside of the public meeting through the district's formal complaint and personnel procedures.
