Administrators report holiday concerts, PTO events and school services at Dec. 15 board meeting

Administrators from Algonac Community School District reported school-level activities and upcoming events at the Dec. 15 board meeting.
Ryan Melrose reported that "both Performing Arts programs did an outstanding job with their holiday performance," that district bands will perform Dec. 18 and the high school band will hold a special student performance on Dec. 19. He also noted that National Honor Society and National Junior Honor Society adopted families for the season and that NJHS raised $300 for the Humane Society.
Brooklynn Lestage said elementary students enjoyed the Holiday Showcase and a second- and third-grade production of "Elflandia" on Dec. 2; she listed upcoming family and PTO events including a Daddy–Daughter Dance on Jan. 10 and a Book Fair beginning Jan. 8. Amber Palicke summarized Millside's Holiday Craft Bazaar and a Cookies with Santa family event and reported that "The Mobile Dentist will be onsite on Wednesday." Dana Bosel said childcare programs have been active with holiday events and that students enjoyed the snow.
The curriculum director, Melissa Hanners, told the board that teachers are working on updated curriculum initiatives and that more reviews will occur in the new year. These reports were informational and did not require board action.
