District Impact Team expands data set as Benzie Central advances strategic plan

Trustee Matt Smith told the board the District Impact Team (DIT) began the fall by refining the district’s strategic‑planning work and identifying additional data needed to strengthen school improvement efforts.
DIT members and Alpine Education facilitators Brian and Lori Pearson reviewed perception and academic data with about 40 stakeholders and recommended expanding the dataset to include Advanced Placement and dual‑enrollment participation, SELweb results, early‑childhood enrollment figures, TeachAmerica data and both i‑Ready and NWEA measures. The group discussed challenges in comparing cohort data after recent NWEA national‑norm changes and focused on how to support students who are furthest behind.
