Algonac schools report wins and upcoming events: wrestling advances to state, band, blood drive and art festival scheduled

Algonac Jr./Sr. High School administrator Ryan Melrose reported the wrestling team won regionals and several wrestlers advanced to the state tournament (regional competition noted Feb. 27 and the state tournament scheduled for March 6). He also reported the cheer team placed fourth in districts and will compete at regionals on Feb. 28. Upcoming school events included Curriculum Night on Feb. 25, an NHS blood drive on March 3 and a pre-festival band concert on March 5; the BWAC Art Festival will run March 16–25.
Elementary reports included a parent informational meeting about a fifth-grade trip to the Howell Nature Center and grant awards at Algonac/Algonquin Elementary for a Pond Study grant and an island CATTAILS grant that will fund vortex binoculars for student use. Millside Elementary reported wellness-week activities, music programs on March 11 and Kindergarten Round Up dates in mid-March. Pte. Tremble Childcare Center announced a Scholastic Book Fair on March 16 and a spring concert on March 24.
