Algonac administrators report testing schedules, conferences and program updates

Administrators reported that high school exams are scheduled Jan. 28–30, NWEA testing is underway, Curriculum Night is Feb. 25, and other elementary and childcare programs noted mid-year assessments, grants and engagement activities. PowerSchool training for secretaries is in progress.
District administrators provided routine updates at the Jan. 26 meeting. High school principal Ryan Melrose reported that exams would be held Jan. 28–30, NWEA testing is underway, and some students will attend a 7–12 leadership conference at L'Anse Creuse North. Melrose also said Curriculum Night is set for Feb. 25, 2026, and the high school plans an apprenticeship wall to display local jobs (unveiling date not yet set).
Algonquin Elementary updates from Brooklynn Lestage noted recent PTO events, a successful Book Fair, a rescheduled Mother–Son dodgeball event held last week, and a St. Clair County Health Department visit to fifth graders about water quality with a planned spring follow-up. Millside Elementary's Amber Palicke reported mid-year assessments, a Glow Disco Dance, and that STEM teacher Lori Grove was one of 110 winners of the Meemic Foundation December 2025 PopIn2Win grant. Pte. Tremble Childcare Center's Dana Bosel described indoor programming during cold weather and staff planning for a Family Engagement night. The minutes also note district-wide PowerSchool training for secretaries as preparation for a system changeover.
