Algonac Board elects officers for 2026; Emery to serve as president

At its Jan. 12 meeting the Algonac Board of Education unanimously elected Nicole Emery as Board President and filled vice‑president, secretary and treasurer posts for 2026. All officer motions passed by voice vote.
The Algonac Board of Education unanimously elected Nicole Emery as Board President for 2026 during its regular Jan. 12 meeting. Heather Arneil-Roberts nominated Emery; Arneil-Roberts moved that "nominations for the office of President are closed and a unanimous ballot be cast for Nicole Emery," a motion recorded as supported by Emery and carried by voice vote.
The Board also filled other officer positions for the year. Andrew Goulet was nominated and approved as Vice‑President in a motion by Emery supported by Jennifer Baker. John Highstreet nominated Jennifer Baker to serve as Secretary; Highstreet moved the nomination, Emery supported it, and the motion carried. Heather Arneil-Roberts was nominated by Baker and approved as Treasurer after Baker moved (supported by Emery) to close nominations and cast a unanimous ballot. Each of the officer elections was recorded in the minutes as passing unanimously.
The elections were conducted at the start of the meeting following roll call; the newly elected officers will serve in the positions for the calendar year 2026 according to the minutes. The meeting then proceeded under President Emery's presiding authority.
