Comstock honors students, staff of the month and recognizes DHHS employees

Superintendent Dr. Jeff Thoenes presented the district’s Student and Staff of the Month recognitions at the Dec. 8 meeting, naming students from pre-K through 12th grade and announcing Ann Swinehart as Staff of the Year. "The student of the month award celebrates and recognizes individual achievement and showcases accomplishments in academics, athletics, and exemplary character traits," Thoenes said during the presentation.
Students named in the minutes included Elijah Dow (CELA, Pre-K), Liam Whitney (CES, 1st Grade), Simon Ehmke (STEM, 5th Grade), A'Ky Harris (CMS, 6th Grade), Amier Luckett (CHS, 9th Grade), FreyOnnya Shaw (CVA, 6th Grade) and Artemis Bengelink (Compass, 12th Grade). The board also recorded a recognition of Department of Health and Human Services employees Valerie McNutt, Heather Horvath and Angela Hilliard for their contributions. The recognitions were listed under the meeting’s recognitions and presentations agenda item and no formal action or vote was attached to these items.
The board’s routine recognitions are part of the district’s effort to highlight student achievement and staff contributions. The next board meeting is scheduled for Jan. 12, 2026.
