Staff reviewed existing ordinance language and the town's $40-per-ticket fee schedule and noted a small number of historical tickets from 2020–2021. The public safety director (Speaker 3) said enforcement had lapsed but that deputies under contract can enforce ordinances; residents urged clear signage before enforcement at problem locations such as the boat ramp, Winslow Street and Smith Street. "...there's reference in here about towing as well," staff said while outlining the enforcement options.
The board then voted to authorize the town manager to start enforcing the traffic and parking ordinance, asked for an inventory of no-parking signage, and directed staff to coordinate with public works on placements and purchases of any missing signs. The motion was made, seconded and approved; staff will produce follow-up materials explaining how and where enforcement will proceed.
