At its Jan. 12, 2026 meeting in the district board room, the Byron Center Public Schools Board of Education elected Brenda Hondorp president, Amber Swift vice-president, Thalia Tilma secretary and Brad Wiechertjes treasurer. Superintendent Dr. Kevin Macina called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. and conducted roll call before nominations.
Each office was filled by nomination and unanimous roll-call vote. Brad Wiechertjes nominated Brenda Hondorp for president; Brenda Hondorp nominated Amber Swift for vice-president; Amber Swift nominated Thalia Tilma for secretary; and Rob Hughes nominated Brad Wiechertjes for treasurer. The minutes record that "All members voted aye by roll-call vote" for each election. The board moved next to the superintendent’s report and the consent agenda.
