Several residents used public comment to press the board on transportation reliability and communication failures at the start of the school year.
"This year, my son, Henry, got off the bus at the wrong bus stop on his very 1st day of school," said resident Robin Van Belsen. She described a child walking nearly a mile home and no return call from the transportation office despite repeated attempts to reach staff.
Resident Doug Lee also urged the board to focus on transportation consistency for working parents and tied operational concerns to academic priorities. The superintendent later said staff are addressing routing problems and reported an influx of driver applications (rising to about 30 applicants), and asked for debriefing to improve the card implementation and routing process.
Parents asked for clearer communication channels from transportation, volunteer support from families where appropriate, and faster follow‑up when issues occur. Trustees acknowledged the concerns and indicated staff would continue to work on routing and communication.
