Superintendent reports transportation issues, driver recruitment and new safety committee

Superintendent Kirby used his report to address recent transportation problems, enrollment trends and safety planning. He said staff has taken steps to address routing issues and reported an increase in applicants for transportation positions.
"We definitely had some challenges with, transportation, that we have, you know, addressed during and then also have, made some plans as far as moving forward," the superintendent said, and added that the district had an influx of applications for driver positions (up to about 30 applicants) since earlier committee reports. He asked staff to debrief routing and card‑implementation procedures to reduce family disruptions.
Kirby also noted declining enrollment and discussed early‑childhood programming (GSRP), expansion of the Flex Academy and plans to convene a safety committee with building representatives and local law enforcement to review processes, protocols and physical security. The superintendent said the committee will meet regularly and include district and building leadership.
