During the March 23, 2026 special meeting, the board moved into closed session to consider an attorney‑client privileged communication. Board member Valerie Bury made the motion to convene to closed session “to consider an attorney‑client privileged communication that is exempt from disclosure under Section 8(1)(h) of the Open Meetings Act,” and Cheryl McCray supported the motion. The motion passed on a roll call vote of seven ayes, zero nays.
The agenda had also listed a separate closed session item for student discipline that did not occur (recorded as “No Show”). The board reconvened from closed session at 7:25 p.m. following a motion by President Geoffrey Rose, supported by Aaron Wittorp.
