Children’s Museum of Virginia brings 'Leon Lab' exhibit and free MakerFest Aug. 29

Erin Colston said the Children’s Museum of Virginia is hosting the traveling Leon Lab exhibit this summer, offering hands-on activities that introduce children to inventions and art inspired by Leonardo da Vinci. "Kids get a hands on experience with the inventions and art of Leonardo da Vinci," Colston said.
The museum is also holding MakerFest on Saturday, Aug. 29 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the Museum Mall, with free vendor and maker activities for families that range from drone programming to glassblowing demonstrations and 3D printing. Colston asked visitors to reserve tickets online in advance and noted the museum is open Wednesday through Sunday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; the museum’s site is childrensmuseumva.com.
