King reported approximately 18,800 event attendees at 19 events, large membership and program increases at MAFC, and a positive first year for the Dog Park (about $14,000 in passes sold).
King said the department is changing how it handles insurance-based MAFC memberships because reconciling insurance reimbursements has become administratively intensive. "We will conclude all insurance programs on December 31st 2026," she told the council, adding that staff plan to expand scholarship and discount programs (including senior and youth scholarships) and to offer other mitigations. Councilmembers pressed for data on reimbursement differentials, the staff time required for reconciliation, and suggested a work session to review impacts on seniors and program access. On rentals, several council members voiced support for offering resident-rate pricing to verified Morrisville nonprofits for indoor facility rentals (CFCC and Historic Christian Church); staff will prepare an ordinance amendment and budget amendment for council review.
