Lake Shore outlines security upgrades and mental-health supports

Dr. DiPonio, a presenter for Lake Shore Public Schools, told the Board of Education that safety and security are the district's continued primary focus and said the district is committing both "human resources and finances" to the work.
He outlined recent and planned physical-security improvements including a reviewed threat-assessment process, emergency-alert systems and facility-level hardware upgrades: "core doors ▪ thumb bolts installed ▪ night lock barricade," and said staff remain vigilant. Dr. DiPonio also listed mental-health supports available to students, naming Care Solace, Care of SE MI, social workers, counselors and psychologists.
The presentation emphasized combining physical protections with behavioral and mental-health resources. President Kurt Ziegler later thanked Dr. DiPonio for organizing the workshop.
