The executive described the building as designed around "modern correctional best practices," including direct supervision of housing units, "expanded medical and mental health services," updated technology and additional space for programming. He praised sheriff's detention staff, transportation teams and health‑care partners for preparations and said the facility "was delivered on schedule and within budget."
Legislator Barca asked that the sheriff be asked to provide a formal presentation and briefing to the legislature on the facility’s operations and safeguards so legislators can confirm that services committed during funding and construction are fully operational. The chair and others agreed to seek sheriff participation before further legislative action related to jail operations or code changes.
